Position Summary:
The Director of Aviation Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all aircraft within the organization's fleet. This role ensures compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and industry standards while maintaining the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and reliability. The Director leads a team of aviation maintenance professionals and coordinates with other departments to support operational goals and ensure timely aircraft availability.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Oversee the maintenance operations for a fleet of aircraft, ensuring compliance with all FAA regulations and company policies.
- Develop, lead, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, supervisors, and support staff.
- Establish performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and provide ongoing training to maintain a high-performing team.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Maintenance Operations
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules, ensuring aircraft availability aligns with operational needs.
- Oversee inspections, repairs, and modifications to aircraft, ensuring compliance with airworthiness directives (ADs) and service bulletins (SBs).
- Collaborate with operations and scheduling teams to minimize downtime and maintain fleet readiness.
- Manage maintenance records, ensuring accurate documentation for regulatory compliance.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, including Part 91, Part 121, or Part 135 requirements (as applicable).
- Maintain safety standards, implementing best practices to minimize risks and incidents.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and serve as the primary point of contact during inspections and audits.
Budget and Resource Management
- Develop and manage the aviation maintenance department's budget, optimizing costs without compromising safety or quality.
- Oversee procurement of parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability while managing inventory efficiently.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors, service providers, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
Strategic Planning
- Develop long-term strategies for fleet maintenance, including upgrades, technology integration, and resource planning.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and processes to improve maintenance efficiency and reliability.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes, adapting operations to maintain competitiveness and compliance.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in aviation maintenance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience with Beechjet, Challenger & Global aircraft preferred.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment:
- Office and hangar environments, with occasional travel as required.
- Ability to respond to maintenance emergencies outside of standard business hours.
